PM: Varsities to alter semester schedules to accommodate Deepavali
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the launch of the 1Malaysia Indian Student Movement (1MISM) at Universiti Malaya here Wednesday night.
vegetarian food would also be made available in all universities, while bus services would be provided for all Hindu university students who wanted to go to temples on Friday evenings.
Najib also announced that 1Malaysia Development Berhad would also provide scholarships to poor students with excellent results to pursue their postgraduate studies.

MyMaster & MyPhD programmes were created under the 10th Malaysia Plan via the MyBrain15 program for the sponsorship of postgraduate study at the Masters & PhD levels.
The Objective of the programs is to stimulate and encourage graduate with calibre to pursue their studies at the higher levels in key areas in line with the country's development plan. This will simultaneous develop and maintain / retain human capital and catapult the transformation of Malaysia to a high income country.
Both programs are opened to the public and private sectors. This is an incentive by the government in its aim to upgrade / increase the knowledge and skill of Malaysias in line with the economic development plan under the MEP which is Innovative Based Development.
